A report by the General Accounting Office reveals that between January and April 2015 passengers living abroad who entered Panama spent thousand 290 million dollars.
The document entitled, Major monthly economic indicators in the Republic: from January to April 2014-15, states that this figure represents an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period last year, where passengers spent thousand 125 million dollars in the country .
In the first quarter of this year, they arrived in the country two million 395 000 people, representing an increase of 8% more than in 2014.
Of this amount 546 000 people were one million people in direct transit and crew members by the International Tocumen Airport.
In the same period, 849 000 people were visitors (tourists, hikers and cruise passengers), 5.8% more than the first quarter of 2014.
