La Línea 3 del Metro de Panamá será diseñado, inspeccionado y construido por más de $2.000 millones que contribuirá por el Estado de Japón segun el Presidente de la República, Juan Carlos Varela. El proyecto, cuya construcción aún no se ha licitado, ayudará a descongestionar el tráfico en las vías de entrada y salida de la capital conectando las ciudades de Arraiján y La Chorrera, ubicadas en la provincia de Panamá Oeste, con el centro de la ciudad Implica la construcción del cuarto puente sobre el Canal de Panamá, que se edificará al norte del emblemático Puente de las Américas y constará de seis carriles, dos de los cuales serán exclusivos para el suburbano. Varela indicó durante una gira de trabajo en la provincia central de Herrera que con ese objetivo se encuentra en Japón el vicecanciller Luis Miguel Hincapié, para firmar un memorándum de entendimiento, en el que se especificarán los detalles de cómo se levantará esta nueva línea del Metro y su financiación. “Panamá se compromete con base a sus leyes de contrataciones públicas a licitar la infraestructura de la línea tres y a contratar tecnología japonesa. El próximo paso es el contrato de financiación y el contrato de gerente de proyecto”, remarcó el gobernante a los periodistas.
