The Republic of Panama stands out as the country with the highest standard of living according to the staff report Welfare Countries (Country Well-Being Rankings report) 2014 World Economic Forum.
The assessment is based on surveys conducted by the World Economic Forum, between citizens of 145 countries and territories on five elements of wellness: purpose, social welfare, finance, community and physical and ranks countries based on the percentage of the population manifesting to be thriving in three or more of these elements.
In Panama, 53% of people believed to be thriving (or do very well) in at least three of the categories.
It is recalled that according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015, Panama remains the most competitive economy in Central America and the second in the region. This report, from 1979, also by the World Economic Forum, analyzes policies and factors that determine the productivity of economies and therefore define the potential for growth and prosperity of countries.
Panama’s performance is based on the excellent range and quality of its infrastructure, especially ports and airports, the financial system, the adoption of technology, the ability to attract human capital, the establishment of new businesses and attracting foreign investment, among other advantages.
The strategy of the Government of the Republic of Panama, according to the Five-Year Plan 2014-2019, focuses on improving competitiveness and promote inclusion for sustainable and equitable economic order of the country to reach the highest standard of living in the region.
