The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) said Thursday that “Panama’s economic growth remains robust”, despite the crisis in the region.
According to statistical figures released by the entity, the economic growth in 2015 closed with a percentage of 5.8, the most dynamic sectors in the supply of electricity, gas and water, 14.1%; financial intermediation with 10.8%; real estate, renting and business activities with 7.4%; 6.1% construction; and mining and quarrying with 6.3%.
Also it notes that the unemployment rate in the country remains low with 3.8%, while the index of employed persons was 1,734,772 until August 2015. While foreign direct investment amounted to 5038.6.
“Since 2008 Panama and currently leads the economy continues to grow at a stable and sustainable way,” emphasizes the MEF.
